Tryouts

• Pre-skates are 100% Optional as we want kids to stay committed to their fall sports.
• Please pay close attention to any alphabet splits so your player attends the appropriate session. 
• Goalies should attend both skater and goalie sessions.
• Any outstanding balances owed must be turned in prior to your player taking the ice. 

NOTE: Goalies should attend both Skater and Goalie Tryouts

• Tryouts are Closed! This includes off-site tryout scrimmages. Only authorized personnel permitted in the ice arena.
• All players will report to the check in table for each session.
• Each player will be issued a reversible tryout pinnie with a number. Players MUST bring their tryout pinnie to every session.
• Groups will be posted by pinnie number after session 1. Please check the SYHA website under TRYOUTS for updates, group times and pinnie color.
• All players bring a either a solid Red, White or Black practice jersey to tryouts. 
• No jerseys with numbers on the sleeve or names on the back or multicolored team jerseys. 
•  Black, white, grey or red hockey socks. No AAA, Elite, school, or summer team socks. SYHA socks are preferred.
• Neck guards and mouth guards w/strap are required per USA Hockey. Any player missing a neck guard or mouth guard will be asked to leave the ice.
• Players arrive no more than 30 minutes before their tryout time. They will be required to stay in the locker room until their session begins.
• Remove all name tags, AAA, outside team stickers from helmets. Saber Hockey logo acceptable.
• Black Helmets - Saber color accents (red, white, or gray) permitted.
• Goalie helmets may be any color.
• Black Breezers - No stripes or accents (solid black). Black breezer covers allowed.
• Black Gloves - Saber color accents (red, white, or gray). *No all-red gloves.
• Water bottle!
• Parents of players who need their skates tied: You will not be allowed to enter the locker room or hallways. Players must come to the benches near the arena front entrance. Once skates are tied, players will return to the locker room. Parents must exit the rink immediately.
• SafeSport rules will be followed. 
• Cell phones: Cell phones must be stowed in player bags. No texting, phone calls, pictures or videos allowed in locker rooms or hallways.
• Locker Room Monitors and SYHA board members will be present to assist the players should they need anything during their tryout session. 
• All players will be held to a high standard of sportsmanship. Players who disrespect others or exemplify unacceptable behavior will be removed from the ice and arena.
• Most Teams will be posted within 48 hours of the last day of tryouts. Results to be posted on www.shakopeehockey.com and/or Crossbar.
• Evaluators utilize Team Genius to score players. A mix of non-parent coaches and third-party evaluators conduct evaluations. More information on how tryouts are conducted can be found here in the SYHA tryout policy.
