Try Hockey for Free

Interested in helping out with the Try Hockey for Free program? 

We are looking for helpers in the following areas:

• Player Check-In: We need 1-2 individuals to help those entering the ice arena check in and help with directing players and parents to the correct locker rooms and/or equipment room when they arrive. 
• On-Ice Helpers: We typically have 4 stations set up on the ice with one large area between the blue lines for those needing additional help. We will need 4 helpers for the stations and 4-6 more helpers in the middle section to help with our skaters needing extra help and guidance. 
• Equipment Room: We usually have a few kiddos that are new each time we have a session. We should have 1-2 helpers available to help size our new players, find and organize equipment so it is easy to find.

If you are not signed up with Shakopee Hockey yet (never registered to play hockey with us), please email Vanessa.Breimhorst@shakopeehockey.com. She will be able to assist you with the dates you are available to help out.

Calling all future hockey players! The Shakopee Youth Hockey Association would like to invite all boys and girls in Elementary School to the Shakopee Ice Arena this summer for a Try Hockey For Free clinic to experience ice hockey for the first time. FREE Intro to hockey sessions, but it is helpful.

Players may have little or no hockey experience.

Equipment to use for the clinic is available including helmets and sticks! To play you, you must wear the following equipment:

• Helmet (bike helmet, hockey helmet, etc).
• Skates and Hockey Stick
• Gloves (hockey gloves, winter mittens, etc)

Optional Equipment to Wear:

• Elbow pads
• Shin & elbow pads (snow pants work too)
• Chest Protector
